PHOENIX — A serious accident involving a car and a bicycle has turned fatal.

Authorities said that at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, a car driving northbound on Pima Road in Scottsdale struck a man on a bike. The bicyclist, a 71-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Neither alcohol nor speed were factors. The driver of the vehicle was not issued a citation, as officials said the bicyclist was struck after he moved into the traffic way.
