PHOENIX — If you’re into eating pancakes and raising money to help sick kids, Tuesday is basically your version of Christmas.
IHOP is hosting its annual National Pancake Day, when the breakfast chain gives away a stack of pancakes in exchange for donations for Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
“It’s a Children’s Miracle Network event,” Kristy Litten with PCH said. “The great thing about raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network is everything stays local.”
The offer is good from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Several celebrities got in on the flapjack action on Tuesday, including Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Josh Collmenter.
“It’s always for the kids and what they do over there at PCH is incredible,” he said. “For us to be a partner and help them out is special for us.”
The pitcher wasn’t just there to down a stack of pancakes. He was working the griddle, something he said he loves to do.
“I’m pretty good at pancakes,” he said. “It’s one of my specialties so hopefully I can convince them to at least hire me for a day.”
Collmenter was joined by several beauty queens, including Miss Arizona, Miss Teen Arizona and Miss Maricopa County.
Litten said she hoped to raise $75,000 on Tuesday.
