PHOENIX — For the second weekend in a row, cooler weather will blow into the Phoenix area, though this time it will not be accompanied by rainfall.

The National Weather Service said daily temperatures would plunge nearly 15 degrees from Wednesday’s high of 83 degrees to close out the work week.

The weather service’s forecast called for a high of just 70 degrees on Thursday, while Friday will be slightly warmer.

St. Patrick’s Day revelers should expect a high around 70 degrees with a slight breeze, which to us sounds like the perfect weather for enjoying a green beer on a patio.

Sunday was expected to be the coolest day this weekend, when the mercury should top out at 68 degrees.

You may want to keep a jacket handy, as nights will also be a little chilly. Weekend lows should slip into the high 40s.

A weather system moving through the state will cause the drop in temperatures. Earlier forecasts predicted a slight chance of rain, but those hopes apparently dried up.

That system will instead bring some breezy days. Gusts on Wednesday night could hit as high as 25 mph and there should be a fairly steady 10-15 mph wind through Friday morning.

We want to hear from you.
