PHOENIX — If you live in central Arizona, have a historic home and don’t mind a television crew inside your home, “Boomtown Builders” is looking for you.

“We are looking for homeowners who are in the process or beginning the process for restoration,” the show’s star, Tim McClellan, said. “I come in and give an overview of what I see the house wants to be, what it should be.”

McClellan said homes will need to be older in order to qualify for the show.

“We’re looking for homes from 60 to 100 years old,” he said. “Obviously, the more dynamic and exciting the history and the bigger the build-out, the better for us.”

The people who are chosen for the show should not expect a full-scale remodel like other home shows. Instead, McClellan and his crew will focus on a certain part.

“It’s a half-hour show, so we’re not doing entire makeovers,” he said.

McClellan said interested homeowners can enter online, though a link did not appear to be available on the show’s webpage.

People who make it on the show will not only get McClellan’s help with the remodel, but also a custom piece of furniture for their new space.

“I do a lot of repurposing and salvaging of old materials and reusing those for new stuff,” he said. “Each one of these builds, when I’m completed with the design of the build itself, I think custom-make a piece of furniture for the homeowner using materials salvaged from their house.”

It was announced last week that “Boomtown Builders” was picked up by DIY Network for eight episodes following a successful pilot. In it, McClellan remodeled the kitchen of Jerome’s chief of police.

The first season of the show was expected to begin filming Wednesday.
