PHOENIX — Someone liked what they saw: A home restoration show based in Arizona’s Verde Valley will be getting a full season after a successful debut earlier this year.
“Boomtown Builder,” which stars Jerome resident Tim McClellan, was picked up for eight half-hour episodes, according to reports. The show will begin filming next week and the episodes should start airing in August.
The show features McClellan remodeling homes that combine historical roots with modern conveniences.
“These old towns and homes are amazing,” McClellan told Broadway World. “I want to help people realize their dream of living the Old West lifestyle. It’s my business to make these homes go boom again!”
In the pilot, McClellan helped Jerome’s chief of police renovate his 1912 home.
McClellan earned the hosting gig after winning Ellen DeGeneres’ show, “Ellen’s Design Challenge,” in 2015.
However, the judges ruled McClellan’s winning design was a copy of another piece of furniture. McClellan denied the accusation and DeGeneres later told him she didn’t believe he intentionally copied the design.
In addition to his television appearances, McClellan owns Western Heritage Furniture and was the co-founder of Verde Biofuel, a company that specialized in creating mobile biodiesel processors.
The Verde Valley is a little more than an hour’s drive north of the Phoenix metro area.
