PHOENIX — Light rail and bus riders won’t have to adjust their travel schedule too much this holiday season.

Valley Metro announced the rail and bus service will operate on a normal Sunday schedule on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day this year.

The light rail will also operate with enhanced service on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to support the festivities.

Customer service will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

On Friday and Saturday, Valley Metro is offering free light rail rides on Main Street between Mesa and Country Club drives from 5 -10 pm. for the Merry Main Street event in downtown Mesa. The free rides are being offered again on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30.

On New Year’s Eve, commuters can ride all bus, rail, paratransit and Dial-a-Ride services for free starting at 7 p.m. until the end of regular service.

Valley Metro is also offering commuters a discount code for the ride-sharing app Uber. The code CLNYE18 will get you a 10 percent discount on two Uber rides to or from light rail stations. The code will be valid starting at 3 p.m.

We want to hear from you.
