Arizona Supreme Court returns to Capitol building for day

PHOENIX — The Arizona Supreme Court returns to its one-time home at the State Capitol on Tuesday.
Kim Crawford with the Arizona Secretary of State Office said the justices will hear arguments on two cases at the historic Supreme Court chambers starting at 9:30 a.m. Seating is open on a first-come, first-served basis.
“The public will be able to see the justices in action and how lawyers present their cases before the Supreme Court,” Crawford said.
The chambers at the Capitol served the Supreme Court from 1938 to 1974 and was home to the nation’s first female state Chief Justice, Lorna Lockwood, in 1965.
The landmark Miranda v. Arizona case was settled in the courtroom that is now part of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records Administrative Office, located on the second floor of 1700 W. Washington Street in Phoenix.
The state’s high court moved to 15th Avenue and Washington Street in 1991.
