PHOENIX — Several Arizona Cardinals players traded the football field for the dining room.
For the eighth year, the team has participated in the Phoenix Rescue Mission’s early Thanksgiving dinner. Kicker Jay Feely has been serving turkey with the all the trimmings since he joined the team three years ago.
“It puts things in perspective,” Feely said. “When you lose six games in a row you start thinking just about football and then you come to something like this and you realize there are a lot more important things.”
His teammates Sam Acho and Mike Leach also served up meals with a smile.
According to the Phoenix Rescue Mission, more than 13,000 men, women and children are homeless in Maricopa County.
