Tempe expecting 10K fans for St. Patrick’s Day beach party

Mar 17, 2014, 1:22 PM | Updated: 4:18 pm

PHOENIX — Tempe Beach Park is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day party Monday night and revelers can expect to see plenty of police officers on the job.

“Come down and enjoy yourself, but don’t take any chances when it comes to drinking and driving,” Sgt. Steve Carbajal said.

Officers in the East Valley DUI Taskforce will be conducting extra patrols around the venue to ensure the streets are free and clear of drunk drivers.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the popular lakeside bash, headlined by Celtic punk rockers Flogging Molly. Local favorites Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers are also scheduled to perform. Organizers said they are expecting upwards of 10,000 fans. Gates will open at 4 p.m.

We want to hear from you.
