Phoenix council thanks Gov. Jan Brewer for SB 1062 veto

Feb 26, 2014, 6:23 PM | Updated: 6:46 pm

PHOENIX — When Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed SB 1062 on Wednesday, the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce was among the first to express its gratitude.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to meet with Governor Brewer and directly communicate to her the potential negative effects of this bill on our economy,” said GPCC President & CEO Todd Sanders in a press release Wednesday afternoon. “She said she would ‘do the right thing for Arizona,’ and we are pleased that she demonstrated that with her veto.

“We look forward to continuing to work with our elected officials to ensure that neither individual liberties nor our economy are threatened by unintended consequences to legislation,” Sanders continued. “Above all, we want to continue to send the message that our great state is a welcoming place for all people to live, visit and do business.”

We want to hear from you.
