PHOENIX — Phoenix police said a 14-year-old was driving a car that collided with an SUV, critically injuring a 3-year-old girl and a man.

Officer James Holmes said the girl was ejected from the SUV, which the man was driving and which overturned.

A woman riding in the SUV was less seriously injured in the accident that occurred Monday morning at Van Buren Street and 67th Avenue.

Holmes said the 14-year-old was under the influence of alcohol and has been booked on several counts of DUI-related aggravated assault.

According to Holmes, a 17-year-old passenger in the car had also consumed alcohol before the collision.

Meanwhile, police said the 3-year-old was not properly restrained in a working car seat.
