2-year-old boy shoots self in the face in Phoenix suburb

PHOENIX — A 2-year-old boy was been taken to a hospital after shooting himself in the face in his Peoria home, police said.

The child was in critical condition.

Police spokesman Jay Davies said the boy found the gun while he was playing on his grandmother’s bed Thursday around 9:30 p.m. in a home near 83rd Avenue and Cactus Road.

The boy’s father was at work.

Investigators were still at the house early Friday morning.
