PHOENIX — An electric car parts manufacturer announced plans to build its new manufacturing plant in Flagstaff, promising to add 120 jobs over the next 12 months.

UACJ Whitehall also announced in press release Thursday it would add 350 jobs and $60 million in capital expenditures over five years in the northern Arizona city.

The plant will be located inside a former Walgreens Pharmacy distribution center, with operations beginning by the end of April, according to the release.

The Michigan-based company launched as Whitehall Industries in 1974, building parts for copying and printing equipment before moving into the auto industry in 2001.

They were acquired by Japanese-based manufacturer UACJ Corp. in 2016 and currently operate plants in Michigan, Kentucky and Mexico.
