US senator brings snowball to Congress to dispute global warming

Feb 28, 2015, 1:01 PM | Updated: Apr 24, 2015, 8:05 pm

Politics are weird.

In a desperate attempt to mock the global warming hysteria, Sen. James Inhofe, R-Oklahoma, brought a snowball to the Senate floor Thursday, Vox reported.

“In case we have forgotten, because we keep hearing that 2014 has been the warmest year on record. I ask the chair, do you know what this is?” Inhofe asked while he removed a snowball from a plastic Ziploc bag.

For any global warming bill to get to Congress, it would have to go through Inhofe, who is chairman of the Senate’s Environment and Public Works committee.

While Inhofe may be technically correct about the fact that it snowed in D.C. Thursday, that does not mean global warming is not an issue.

Scientists have been studying the patterns of average temperature since 1880 and have found 2014 to be the warmest year on record as a whole.

So in billions of years when the sun burns out and melts our core, our descendants can look back on this moment and laugh — before they ultimately come to their demise.
