Windowless planes: Aircraft of the future?

Would you ride in a windowless plane?
Don’t worry, claustrophobia wouldn’t be an issue — you’ll actually be more afraid of falling right through the sides of the airplane mid-flight.
OK, that’s an exaggeration — a new concept design from the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) has suggested all plane windows be replaced with full-length screens displaying panoramic views captured by cameras on the planes exterior. The screens would also provide in-flight entertainment and Internet access.
The reasoning behind the not-so-subtle proposed design shift, according to the firm, would be to reduce the weight and therefore the passenger cost for both passenger and airline.
Dr. Jon Helliwell of the CPI said these planes could become a reality in 10 years.
Until then, passengers can still bicker over who gets the window seat.
