Mesa to host ceremony for opening of new phase of park

PHOENIX – Mesa will celebrate the completion of new spaces at one of its city parks.
The city will unveil the newest phase of Eastmark Great Park on Nov. 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“The City of Mesa has always been committed to providing our residents with fun and unique park concepts that ignite the imagination and encourage play,” Mayor John Giles said in a press release.
The new additions feature shaded playgrounds, two dog parks, four baseball fields, sand volleyball courts, a turf field and three additional ramadas.
The celebration will include live music from Arizona Black top, inflatables, food trucks and dog agility demonstrations.
The first phase of the park was completed in 2013 which included the lake, splash pad, walking paths, event pavilion and basketball courts. It also included the parking lots and open grassy space.
In 2015, the second phase finished which featured, the Orange Monster playground, exercise stations and a restroom building.
