PHOENIX – A Silver Alert issued in August after an 83-year-old Phoenix man went missing has been canceled after human remains were found buried in the yard of the home he shared with his grandson.

Adow D. Albert was last seen Aug. 4 at his home near Butler and 27th avenues.

Police served a search warrant at the residence Dec. 20 and found remains that were so badly decomposed that the identity and cause of death will have to be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Albert’s grandson, 38-year-old Joshua Ward, was arrested and charged with abandonment or concealment of a dead body.

Albert, who was reported missing by his granddaughter about three weeks after he’d last been seen, has diabetes and takes blood thinners for a heart condition, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Anybody with information about the case was asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 602-534-2121 or caleb.morris@phoenix.gov. Use 602-262-6141 for after-hours calls.

We want to hear from you.
