Loop 101 traffic in north Scottsdale moved to temporary lanes for one year

PHOENIX — The construction of a bridge will force drivers on the Loop 101 Pima Freeway in north Scottsdale to use temporary lanes for the next year, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Westbound drivers between Hayden and Scottsdale roads began using the temporary lanes on Monday, ADOT said in a press release.

The bridge will provide an overpass to travel over the city of Scottsdale’s planned future extension of Miller Road, according to ADOT.

The eastbound lanes are still normal, but will be shifted to temporary lanes in the same area by next week following a closure from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday.

The bridge is part of ADOT’s $185 million Pima Freeway widening project along 13 miles of Loop 101 between Interstate 17 and Pima Road.

The project, started in February, is expected to be completed in early 2021, according to ADOT.
