PHOENIX — For motorists who travel on the 15th Avenue bridge over Loop 101, getting where they need to go may take a bit longer starting Monday.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the bridge over Loop 101 in north Phoenix is expected to close from 9 p.m. Monday until late 2020.
As part of the ongoing ADOT Loop 101 Pima Freeway Improvement Project, crews will be making changes to the bridge to allow for more lanes on the freeway below it.
ADOT recommends drivers use alternate routes to avoid any potential delays, including Seventh and 19th avenues, while the bridge is shut down.
Previously scheduled closures for Monday and Tuesday on Scottsdale Road near the Loop 101 Pima Freeway have been postponed, according to ADOT.
Scottsdale Road was to be closed in both directions between Mayo Boulevard and the westbound Loop 101 frontage road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Instead, the Scottsdale Road closures will be from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
The ADOT project is adding new right lanes in areas along 13 miles of the freeway between Interstate 17 in north Phoenix and Pima Road/Princess Drive in north Scottsdale.
Completion of the project is expected in early 2021.
