PHOENIX – Winter festival season is still in full swing in the Valley, at least in Glendale.

Between 60,000 and 80,000 people are expected to descend on the West Valley suburb’s downtown area Saturday for the Glitter & Glow Balloon Festival.

The annual free event runs from 4-10 p.m. and will feature glowing hot air balloons, 1.6 million LED lights, live music, food, rides and more over 16 blocks northeast of Glendale and 59th Avenues.

Downtown street parking is expected to fill up quickly, but free shuttles will run from Glendale Community College at 59th and Olive avenues. The last shuttle will leave downtown Glendale at 10:15 p.m.

There will also be pay parking available at two downtown parking garages.

The musical acts lined up for the festival are as follows:

  • DJ Dangerous: spinning the hits.
  • 76th Street: indie/pop.
  • Soul Power: Motown, jazz and R&B.
  • Zero Gravity Fighters: upbeat covers.
  • Cheap Hotels: Classic rock.
  • Randy Altergott: Acoustic rock and country covers.
  • Pandy Raye Duo: Country.
  • West Hills Brothers Duo: Acoustic guitarists.

Additionally, a variety of professional and student musicians will perform on the Phoenix Conservatory of Music Concert Stage.

We want to hear from you.
