PHOENIX — Three people have died after a semi truck and an SUV collided on a major roadway south of Phoenix, the Arizona Department of Public Safety announced Wednesday.
According to spokesman Bart Graves, the collision occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on the northbound State Route 347 at Casa Blanca Road in Maricopa.
Police said it appears the driver of the pickup lost control and rolled the vehicle before it was T-boned by the big rig.
All of the victims were riding in the Ranger.
The three deceased victims were identified on Thursday as 24-year-old Juanna Molina, 33-year-old Ray Molina and 18-year-old Dominic Dixon. A fourth victim, a male, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the semi truck was not injured.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said the northbound lanes on SR 347 at Casa Blanca Road were closed following the crash, but were reopened early Thursday morning.
SR 347 update: Northbound lanes are open this morning following Wednesday evening's closure.
