Retirement community installing photovoltaic panels to help lower costs, protect environment

Mar 22, 2013, 5:00 AM

MESA, Ariz. — The sun is shining brightly on 3,000 residents of the Venture Out RV Resort in East Mesa.

After overwhelming support from the residents, the community’s HOA voted to install 1,300 photovoltaic panels. As long as the sun continues to shine, they’ll be seeing significant savings.

“With the help of incentives from SRP, they are expected to offset sixty-five percent of their recreation center and 100 percent of their pool pump, bathhouses and administration building,” said Patricia Garcia-Likens, spokeswoman for SRP.

The residents made the decision to not only plan for immediate and future needs, but they are a community committed to making a difference when it comes to protecting the environment.
