A 1-year-old boy is in the hospital after he was pulled out
of a backyard pool near Stapley and Southern in Mesa.
Mesa Fire Department Captain Forrest Smith said the pool was
very dirty and didn’t have a fence around it.
“The mom had said that she had taken her 1-year-old out from
the bottom of the pool,” he said. “She said there was about
three to five minutes where he was unattended and it
appeared that he may have gone out the back sliding glass
door.”
Smith said the incident reiterates the need for adults to supervise children at all times.
Smith said the boy is in stable condition.
