Report: Valley app builders making it big

Sep 30, 2013, 6:41 PM | Updated: 6:41 pm

PHOENIX — Two Valley app builders are reportedly doing quite well for themselves.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, Jo Overline and Ryan Allen, whose Ugly Meter app dethroned Angry Birds in the iTunes store, are now consulting large companies on their respective apps.

The two are using their experience to advise Silicone Valley entrepreneurs and help large brands develop apps. The two just created an app for the new 2014 Lexus IS vehicle.

Despite their work in California, Overline and Allen chose to keep their 18-employee company in the Valley.

“We didn’t realize how strong tech is here,” Allen said of the Phoenix area. “It’s not just about finding good people but finding the right people, too.”

Overline said the tech industry is blossoming in Phoenix and national companies are starting to take note.

We want to hear from you.
