On Thursday afternoon, the El Mirage Fire Department responded to a call of a 1-year-old infant falling into a swimming pool at a residence near the 12500 block of W. Larkspar Road.

The infant required life-saving efforts from officials on the scene and following those procedures was lifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

According to El Mirage Police and Fire, the child was at home with his grandmother and left unattended at the time of the incident. The grandmother was able to pull the infant from the pool, before another family member called local authorities.

The child currently remains in critical condition.
