Man in custody after body found at Tempe Beach Park playground

PHOENIX — One man has been taken into police custody after another man’s body was found in Tempe Beach Park near a splash pad Friday.

UPDATE:

Tempe police Lt. Mike Pooley said there was some sort of physical altercation between two men early in the day.

The suspect was being cooperative with police detectives, Pooley said.

Parts of the park will remain closed for several hours as detectives continue to investigate the incident, Pooley said.
