PHOENIX – Another day, another Amazon jobs announcement for metro Phoenix.

The internet retail behemoth revealed plans Wednesday to open 11 new sites across the Valley by the end of the year, creating about 3,000 new full- and part-time jobs with pay starting at $15 an hour.

The new sites — delivery stations and facilities for supporting fulfillment operations – will be in Avondale, Chandler, Goodyear, Mesa, Phoenix and Tempe.

“We’re proud to be growing in the Phoenix metro area, where we opened our first fulfillment center in the state more than 13 years ago with just 300 full-time employees,” Matthew High, regional fulfillment director, said in a press release. “We now have more than 17,500 full- and part-time Amazon employees who call Arizona home.”

Mesa said in a separate press release that Amazon has leased a recently built facility and land near the Falcon Field airport for a 150,000-square-foot a delivery station.

On Tuesday, Amazon announced it was adding 500 tech and corporate jobs at its Phoenix tech hub.

And there’s more to come.

Amazon’s expansion plans for 2021 include 1,000 additional full-time jobs in the West Valley at new a cross-dock facility in Goodyear and delivery station in Surprise.

Goodyear said in a press release that Amazon will be the suburb’s largest employer by 2021 with nearly 3,000 employees.

“Despite the pandemic, development in our city is thriving,” Mayor Georgia Lord said in the release. “The future is very bright in the city of Goodyear and we are thrilled that Amazon will contribute to our continued growth.”

We want to hear from you.
