A California woman ran onto the roof of her two-story Venice home to seek refuge from a transient who allegedly broke into her house on Wednesday.
According to KTLA, neighbors identified the woman as Melora Rivera and said she crawled through a window and onto the roof wearing only the flannel shirt she was sleeping in.
Rivera hid under an eave and used her cellphone to call 911.
“He came out to the roof and was on the other side of the roof while she’s trying to tell police ‘there’s an intruder in my house,'” said a male neighbor, who did not give his name.
The photographs of Rivera, captured by an onlooker, went viral on social media.
The transient was later identified as 29-year-old Christian Hicks, who was known in the area. Hicks faces felony charges and was held on $50,000 bail.
Rivera played Hussy in “Sparkle,” a 2012 film starring Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston.
