Woodbury Fire near Superior grows to 1,400 acres, 0% contained

PHOENIX — Another wildfire broke out in the Superstition Mountains approximately five miles northwest of Superior around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Three engines and 20 firefighters were the first to respond to what is being called the “Woodbury Fire,” Tonto National Forest officials said.

Officials also said that the fire is not threatening any structures or communities at this time.
The fire was active through the night and has been deemed to be human-caused.

As of Monday afternoon, the Woodbury Fire was 0% contained and had grown to more than 1,400 acres.
Fire crews also continue to battle the human-caused Mountain Fire that ignited on Tonto National Forest land northeast of the Valley on Friday.
According to the forest service, the fire was 50% contained as Sunday afternoon and has covered approximately 7,225 acres, but no structures were threatened.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the mandatory evacuation of Bartlett Lake and the surrounding area, according to a tweet by Tonto National Forest.
