PHOENIX — The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said it was investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Mesa on Monday evening.
Deputies were called to Crismon Road and Main Street around 5 p.m. after they received a report of a person making threats, according to ABC15.
Deputies found a 30-year-old man armed with a rifle and asked him to drop his weapon.
The man, identified Friday as Pedro Colazo-Villa, did not comply, so deputies “deployed lethal force,” according to Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez.
The suspect was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. No deputies were injured.
