Video shows armed men lead migrant woman, child across Arizona border

PHOENIX – Customs and Border Protection said men armed with assault weapons brought a woman and her young son into Arizona from Mexico just days ago.

The Saturday entry was caught on surveillance camera, the second time in just over a week that migrants have made it past the fence near Ajo, Arizona. A group of nearly 400 – mostly children – surrendered to border agents there April 16.

Border Patrol Agent Jacob Stukenberg said the woman and the 8-year-old boy arrested Saturday were led to the international boundary near the Lukeville Port of Entry.

The men, Stukenberg told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Tuesday, “were heavily armed with tactical gear, AK-style weapons, assault rifles.

“We don’t see this very often, but we do know the potential is there.”

The agency said the area was commonly used by smugglers to bring large numbers of Central Americans into the United States.

After the men got the woman and child onto American soil, they left. Border agents then took the two into custody.

The woman and boy were physically unharmed.
