Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine ranked among top 10 in nation

PHOENIX – The Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, with campuses in Phoenix, Florida and Minnesota, was ranked among the top ten best medical schools in the nation.

An annual ranking compiled by U.S. News & World Report of the nation’s top schools placed the Alix School of Medicine at No. 9.

The school came in a three-way tie with Cornell University and New York University.

According to a Mayo Clinic press release, the school scored only four points less than the No. 4 school.

The medical school received its high rankings because of the “groundbreaking biomedical advances” being made at Mayo Clinic labs.

Students participate in hands-on scientific training and research, and more than 80 percent of M.D. students have their research manuscript published, according to the release.

“To be included as one of the top schools in the country is a real testament to the tremendous educational efforts of our faculty, students and staff,” Fredric Meyer, M.D., Waugh executive dean for education, said.

“It also recognizes the strong bonds between practice, research and education at Mayo Clinic and how we work together to develop the workforce of the future.”

The Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine began in 1972 in Rochester, Minnesota. The school expanded in 2017 with its second campus in Phoenix.
