Ex-DC mayor Marion Barry released from hospital

WASHINGTON (AP) – D.C. Councilmember and former mayor Marion Barry has been released from the hospital after being treated for a drop in blood sugar.
The 77-year-old Barry was taken to Howard University Hospital on Tuesday night. His spokeswoman, LaToya Foster, says he was released Wednesday afternoon. She says he’s resting comfortably at home and is “in great spirits.”
Barry has diabetes. He tweeted Wednesday afternoon that doctors have changed his medication.
Barry was hospitalized last year in Las Vegas after he developed a blood clot while on a plane heading to a retail convention. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2009 and is also a prostate cancer survivor.
Barry, a Democrat, served four terms as District of Columbia mayor and is now serving his third consecutive term representing Ward 8 on the council.
