Amber Alert canceled for missing Tempe girl

Jan 8, 2013, 9:18 PM | Updated: 9:18 pm

An Amber Alert was canceled Tuesday after a Tempe girl, allegedly abducted by her father, was found safe.

Police said 13-year-old Jasmine Babers was taken at a bus stop near her home by her biological father, Ernest Babers.

A DPS officer found them in Quartzsite when he pulled over an SUV that matched the description of the Amber Alert.

Tempe Police Sergeant Mike Pooley said Jasmine was not harmed but was “a little nervous” when she was finally found.

Ernest is now in custody. He has a history of mental illness.

Jasmine is talking to authorities and is expected to be reunited with her mother in Tempe later Tuesday night.

We want to hear from you.
