Andy Biggs is "not taking tough questions from reporters," Gov. Katie Hobbs says while defending her decision not to debate him. She drops a scathing critique of his record — as does her Democratic lieutenant governor pick, former Republican mayor John Giles.
"That is not a good format for accomplishing the dissemination of useful information," Giles said. "It's about soundbites. It's about avoiding questions."
That's why the Democratic ticket is out speaking to reporters, he adds.
"I think it is important to hold candidates' feet to the fire and to get questions answered. And we are going to do that every day for the next 90 days."
