PHOENIX — The Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary in north Scottsdale is hosting three nights of twilight tours starting Saturday evening.

The next two days of events are July 30 and Aug. 20.

The Twilight Croc Walk includes crocodilian feedings, chances to learn about reptiles and meet-and-greets with some of the animals, according to a press release.

The animals involved in the demonstrations will be determined each day of the event, but visitors will see at least one American alligator and different types of crocodiles eat.

Each day’s activities begin at 5:30 p.m. and run through 8 p.m.

Croc feeding demonstrations start at 6 p.m. Participants can look at crocodiles and alligators with flashlights and headlamps to see reflective eyeshine after dark at 7:40 p.m.

There will also be a petting zoo and face painting open from 5:30-7:30 p.m., so families can decide which activities to participate in. There will be multiple feeding demonstrations.

Reservations are required to visit the facility, which is located near Dynamite and Scottsdale roads.

Tickets are $30 for adult, $20 for children and free for toddlers.

The Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization that works to rehabilitate rescued reptiles and educate the public. Its mission statement is “To promote conservation and preservation of native and non-native reptiles through education, rehabilitation, rescue, and relocation.”

Call 602-550-1090 or visit the PHS website for more information.

We want to hear from you.
