Sen. Mark Kelly heads to Tucson after wife Gabby Giffords hospitalized with appendicitis

PHOENIX – U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly returned home to Tucson after his wife, former Rep. Gabby Giffords, was hospitalized Tuesday with appendicitis, Kelly’s office announced.
“Congresswoman Giffords checked into the hospital Tuesday and is currently being treated for appendicitis,” Jacob Peters, the senator’s communications director, said in a statement Wednesday.
“Sen. Kelly has headed home to Tucson to be with her. We’re all wishing her a speedy and thorough recovery.”
No other information was made available.
