Husband and wife American cuisine restaurant set to open in Scottsdale

PHOENIX — A husband and wife are bringing their knowledge and experience from the San Francisco corporate catering and event planning scene to Scottsdale with a new restaurant that will open for regular service next week.

Founded by Anthony and Anna Barr, Gabriella’s Contemporary American Cuisine at Via Linda and Mountain View Road will be open Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. before opening for seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for dine-in or take-out on Tuesday.

The restaurant features a vast selection of traditional American cuisine, such as grilled chicken, New York steak and seafood, along with vegan and vegetarian selections.

“We are so excited to bring our upscale-yet-approachable cuisine to the diners of Scottsdale,” Anna Barr said in a press release.

“We take much pride in every dish that comes out of our kitchen, and we’re dedicated to, and passionate about, creating memorable experiences through a welcoming atmosphere, spectacular service, and exceptional food.”

The two, who have been married for 18 years and have two children, were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and forced to lay off a significant number of staff from their previous companies in the Bay Area as weddings and general events were cancelled.

That’s when they decided to pack everything up and move to Scottsdale, according to the release, wanting to make a fresh start somewhere else and immediately falling in love with the area after visiting in April.

The restaurant currently limits seating to 40 people in the dining area and 60 guests in the large patio to meet state and Centers for Disease Control social distancing requirements.
