PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is asking the public’s help in finding a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run on Thursday evening.

The crash took place near 19th Avenue and Roosevelt Street shortly before 5:30 p.m., police said.

Five vehicles were involved in the crash. One of the drivers involved drove away before authorities arrived.

Patrol officers responded to the collision site to find the victim, 67-year-old Enrique Cortez, suffering from severe injuries, police said.

After being brought to a hospital, medical staff pronounced Cortez dead. He had been a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash.
