Loop 202, I-10 closures planned for Cinco de Mayo weekend

PHOENIX — Parts of Loop 202 and Interstate 10 will be closed over the Cinco de Mayo weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Loop 202 will be closed in both directions between U.S. 60 in Mesa and Williams Field Road in Gilbert from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday for pavement improvements.
Both U.S. 60 ramps to southbound Loop 202 will be closed, and State Route 24 will be closed at Ellsworth Road.
Alternate routes include U.S. 60 and the Loop 101 Price Freeway as well as the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway.

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between the Interstate 17 “stack” interchange and State Route 51 from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for tunnel cleaning and maintenance.
Both I-17 ramps to eastbound I-10 at the interchange will also be closed.
Westbound I-10 will be closed between the I-17 “split” interchange and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for tunnel cleaning and maintenance.
The southbound SR 51 and westbound Loop 202 ramps to westbound I-10 will also be closed.
I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes in both directions between 59th and 83rd avenues from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for paving as part of the South Mountain Freeway project.
The 22-mile South Mountain Freeway, expected to be completed in 2020, will be a link between the East Valley and West Valley.
The eastbound I-10 on-ramp and westbound off-ramp at 79th Avenue will also be closed.
