PHOENIX — The longest-running local television show in Arizona turns 60 this week.

The Arizona Humane Society’s ‘Pets on Parade‘ has been helping pets get adopted since 1958 — it’s estimated that 31,000 dogs, cats and other animals have found a home thanks to the show.

Besides featuring adoptable pets, the show advocates for animals in need and educates its 20,000 weekly viewers on animal welfare.

The anniversary show will air on KTVK-3TV on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

It will show moments from the last six decades and honor Marge Wright, the longtime host and volunteer, who died at the age of 89 in 2014.

“To see how far we have come as an organization over the last 60 years and to have a platform like ‘Pets on Parade,’ which has stood the test of time, is truly amazing,” Dr. Steven Hansen, CEO of the organization, said in a news release.

He added the group was looking forward to “another 60 years of life-saving TV.”

We want to hear from you.
