PHOENIX — More than 12,000 girls in central and northern Arizona worked their tails off during the six-week cookie program, averaging 239 boxes a person.
A total of 12,292 Girl Scouts from the Arizona Cactus-Pine Council sold 2,942,242 boxes of cookies from Jan. 22 to March 4, the Scottsdale Independent reported.
The top cookie seller sold 4,874 boxes, while 39 girls sold more than 2,000.
And that’s not all.
“In honor of our milestone fifth year of the program, we launched a ‘Five-Timers Club’ this year to honor the chefs and restaurants who have been with us, believed in us and supported us since day one,” Susan de Queljoe, of the local council, said in a statement. “They are Rusconi’s American Kitchen, Lumberyard Brewery, Olive & Ivy and The Thumb.”
The girls even partnered with Lyft to help promote local cookie sales through “Cookie Mode,” which is a code used to donate a portion of the proceeds to the local troops.
But the real question is, which cookie reigned supreme?
Thirty-two percent of sales went toward Thin Mints, while Samoas came in second at 20 percent.
The proceeds from the cookie program go back to supporting Arizona’s Girl Scouts.
In addition, a portion of the proceeds from the fifth annual Cookie Dessert Challenge will also go to the Girl Scouts of Arizona.
