PHOENIX — It may still be well over 100 degrees outside, but Four Peaks Brewing in Tempe was set to release an Arizona fall staple this week: Pumpkin Porter.
The beer will be on tap for Arizona State University’s home football opener against New Mexico State University on Thursday and was expected to be released everywhere on Friday.
This marks the second straight year that Pumpkin Porter, one of the state’s most popular seasonal brews, would be released by Labor Day. It had typically been released in late September in previous years.
Pumpkin Porter is the best-selling seasonal craft beer in Arizona, according to Four Peaks Director of Sales Ted Golden. It received 83 points out of a possible 100 on Beer Advocate, a popular beer rating website.
The brewer has not said when it will release the also popular Double Pumpkin. Stronger than the porter, the imperial ale has a “deeper, richer backbone and a spicy finish.”
Four Peaks has two locations in Tempe — the primary brewery near McClintock and University drives and a small taproom that does not serve food near Broadway Road and Mill Avenue.
It also has a Scottsdale location near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and the Loop 101, along with a location inside Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
