Correction: United Nations-Nuclear Test Ban story

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — In a story published August 30, 2023, about the United Nations marking International Day Against Nuclear Tests, The Associated Press erroneously reported the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty has taken effect. The pact has not taken effect because it needs ratification by the eight nations that had nuclear power reactors or research reactors when the U.N. General Assembly adopted the treaty in 1996.
