Stem cell research: Not what you think!

Just say the words “stem cell research” and the controversy begins. Because when stem cells became part of the public vernacular a few years ago, scientists were talking about embryonic stem cells, or those from embryos developed at an invitro fertilization clinic from donor eggs.
But some doctors are finding treatments using a person’s own stem cells can be useful in treating many conditions that previously required surgery — such as hip or knee replacements, or for diseases like multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s Disease, diabetes, macular degeneration and many others.
While it’s is not cheap, and since it is experimental, the treatment is finding fans. One place that does it right here in the Valley is the Phoenix Stem Cell Treatment Center on Tatum Blvd.
Costs range of the treatment seen in the video range from about $7000 to around $9,000, depending on the condition being treated. Amazingly, it only takes a few hours from start to finish.
