Daughter’s alleged Mother’s Day attack recounted

Jun 14, 2012, 12:23 AM

DENAIR, Calif. (AP) – A judge heard grisly details of blood-splattered walls and a mother’s cries during a preliminary hearing for an 18-year-old Northern California woman accused of attacking her parents last year on Mother’s Day.

Susan Wills testified Tuesday that her daughter Shanna Will had been acting strangely for a week leading up to the assault, claiming she was the “Messiah,” according to the Modesto Bee (

On the day of the attack, she forced her parents to kneel on the ground and held a knife over them, according to the Bee.

“You’re not going to die, I made you angels,” The Bee quoted Susan Wills as testifying that her daughter said. “And then, she stabbed me in the back. I remember saying, or screaming, `You’re killing us.’ “

Kenneth Wills, 62, died during the attack.

Shanna Wills is facing murder, attempted murder and assault charges in the death of her father and wounding of her mother. She was 17 at the time of the alleged attack, but is being charged as an adult.

She has pleaded not guilty.

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy Nathan Malone also testified Tuesday that there “blood was everywhere” when he walked into the Denair home where he found Shanna Wills and her parents in May 2011, according to the Bee.

Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge John Freeland is determining whether there’s enough evidence to proceed to trial.
