There are monsters roaming our streets. That’s the only way these suspects can be described after their horrific crimes.

Our first case takes us to a neighborhood near Thomas Road and 57th Avenue on April 14, 2013.

“At 5:30 on a Sunday morning, an 89-year-old woman got a knock on her door,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch said.

She didn’t recognize the man but thought it might be her neighbor so she opened the door.

“The suspect forced his way in, immediately began beating the woman then sexually assaulted her,” said Burch.

The man took nothing from the house when he finally left. Police say the man is a sexual predator whose only intention was to beat and rape the woman.

The victim survived.

Our next case happened on Sunday, April 13, 2014, near 35th Avenue and Buckeye Road. It was 8 p.m. and a homeless man was walking along the street.

He was stopped by a man riding in an older model sedan.

“The passenger in the vehicle said something to the victim who then came closer to the car,” Burch said. “That’s when some kind of accelerant was thrown on the man and he was lit on fire.”

The homeless man stumbled to an alley and collapsed. He survived but had burns over the entire upper half of his body.
