60-year-old man dies at hospital after being assaulted at care facility in west Phoenix

A 60-year-old man died in the hospital Wednesday almost a week after he was assaulted at a care facility in west Phoenix, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the victim as John Solomon on Friday.

On July 2, officers were called to a care facility in the area of 32nd Street and Indian School Road around 5:10 a.m. for an aggravated assault.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the man with serious injuries, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

While investigating, detectives discovered that a witness told staff that an unknown suspect had injured the man before fleeing the area.

The investigating is ongoing and no arrests have been made, police said.
