Police identify man killed in south Phoenix robbery shooting

A man died after being shot during an alleged robbery in south Phoenix on Saturday night, authorities said.

Officers were called to the area of 16th Street and Broadway Road regarding a robbery at gunpoint just before 10 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

At the scene, officers found a vehicle in the roadway surrounded by multiple shell casings.

Shortly after, two women told officers they had been robbed at gunpoint by a group of men they couldn’t identify. They added that a man who was with them left on foot before officers arrived.

Around 2 a.m., one of the women reported finding her boyfriend, Damarion Goins, dead in a backyard near the scene. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on scene.

Homicide detectives, the Gang Unit and partner agencies are investigating the fatal shooting. No arrests have been made.
