ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico State Police say what should have been a simple investigation into a truck-train collision with no serious injuries has been complicated by the discovery of illegal drugs near the tracks.
Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez won’t disclose the type or quantity of drugs found in two packages after an Amtrak train struck a tractor-trailer rig carrying vehicles at a crossing south of Albuquerque Wednesday.
The accident threw two cars off the auto-carrier.
According to the Albuquerque Journal (

The train then appeared from behind a stand of trees and struck the truck before its driver was able to get his vehicle off the tracks.
